Psychological: I'm sure most of the hackers don't realize or care too much about what they are doing to others. They are almost emotionless I guess would be a good term to use. The people who find out they have been hacked are usually devastated. Some want revenge for what was taken from them, while others don't want to dwell too much on it.
Social: There are rules set by programmers that hackers obviously break. The roles of a programmer are to make sure what they have made, for example, a website are running smoothly with no complications. If a hacker finds something they want from the website they usually find a way to take it. I'm not super positive how hackers do what they do, but a place like Darkode, where they can discuss and brag, is a great place to receive more insight.
Temporal: Technology has progressed to the point where more and more people are starting to store personal information on their electronic devices. We are slowly moving towards a technology bases society, which is a great thing in the eyes of a hacker. The more information out in the world the more a hacker can enjoy what he does.
Cultural: Some people are alright with the idea of hacking. They teach others how to do it and how to pass on what they learned. When a large group of hackers is formed they find a gathering place to talk, such as Darkode. People from all over do this no matter their age, ethnicity, race, etc.
At the beginning of the audio interview there was a lady saying that in order for her to get her files back from a hacker she had to pay them $500. After the story was over I was amazed how a random lady was targeted. The audio went on to say that there was a place for hackers to meet and brag about their accomplishments, Darkode. This was a very interesting audio message to listen to. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it. It made me wonder just how safe some of my information is on my phone.
Wesley, I don't even want to start thinking about the privacy on my phone. Just one crisis at a time please. I don't like the randomness of the attack either. You think little old ladies should be safe on their own computers.
